Michelin Guide Singapore 2025 Announced: Two Omakase Restaurants Get Additional Stars, Singapore's Favourite Restaurants Return

The most recognised culinary guide in the world revealed its picks last night at the Michelin Guide Singapore Awards Ceremony. Two omakase sushi restaurants gained additional stars this year, amidst an incredibly diverse selection of where to go for Singapore's best food: 2025's Guide, however, sees a dramatically shorter list of one-starred restaurants than its predecessor.
The Michelin Guide started as a culinary guide for travellers: through its 125-year history, it's maintained the use of its iconic star system. One star means "worth a stop", two stars means "worth a detour", and three stars means "worth a special trip". As of 2025, there are only 151 three-starred restaurants in the world: Singapore has been honoured with three. Zén, Les Amis, and World's Top 50 awardee Odette remain Singapore's most celebrated restaurants: what a coincidence that all three are French!
This year's Michelin Guide Singapore sees 288 establishments awarded: 32 with one star, 7 with two stars, 3 with three stars, 89 with the Bib Gourmand, 157 selections, and two with the Green Star.
New Restaurants With One Michelin Star
The awards ceremony acknowledged the closure of several one-starred restaurants, citing current economic challenges in the restaurant industry. Nine of last year's one-starred restaurants are absent from the list this year. One new restaurant, however, has made the list, showing the resilience of restauranteurs and an undeterred optimism.

Omakase @ Stevens receives its first star: head chef Kazuki Arimoto also receives the Young Chef Award by Blancpain. This omakase sushi restaurant serves rich seasonal menus: Arimoto, from Osaka, draws on Japanese and French cooking techniques and his ten years of experience in Michelin-starred restaurants. The resulting dishes are light and fresh, and made with quality Japanese produce.

New Restaurants With Two Michelin Stars
One restaurant was promoted to two stars this year: Sushi Sakuta, by chef Yoshio Sakuta. It joins returning two-starred restaurants Saint Pierre, Thevar, Meta, Cloudstreet, Shoukouwa, and Jaan by Kirk Westaway.

Sushi Sakuta
This restaurant is helmed by an all-Japanese team of chefs, and creates Edomae sushi dishes at their best. In an intimate dining room surrounded by historic Japanese art, courses are served over a 5-metre long, unbroken hinoki wood table. Chef Sakuta brings precision and artistry to his cooking: each fish is sourced carefully from Japan. Even the rice used is an exact blend of two Japanese cultivars.

Mira Laang

A self-described solo tourist through life, Mira returns from studies abroad to look at Singapore through fresh new eyes. While she's fond of fashion, beauty and lifestyle, she's also a big fan of any restaurant with crusty bread on the side. Elsewhere, Mira spends her days painting, going to electronic music gigs, and walking through department store perfume aisles to relax.
