The VIP Shortcut to Nha Trang: 2-Hour Flights, Secluded Bays, and World-Class Mixology

It is a common point of confusion: where are you actually staying?

Cam Ranh: This is where the airport is located. It is a peaceful, upscale peninsula about 45 minutes south of the city. This area is home to sprawling, self-contained 5-star resorts and pristine, quiet beaches. 

Nha Trang: This is the vibrant city center. It’s a bustling coastal hub filled with high-end bars, local eateries, and a high-energy beach promenade.

Nha Trang and its surrounding bays house some of the most stunning properties in Asia. Three standouts include:

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay: Accessible only by boat, this is the pinnacle of "barefoot luxury." Think villas nestled into rock formations and private pools overlooking the sea.

Gran Meliá Nha Trang (Villa Le Corail): A newer addition to the scene, this property offers ultra-modern, sophisticated villas that feel more like private mansions than hotel rooms.

It is, however, a 40 minutes drive into the city, perfect for those wanting to just rest and relax in the hotel. Mariott Bonvoy members can use their perks as per their statues. 

Mắm - Homestyle Vietnamese Restaurant

For an authentic taste of the region, head to Mắm. It’s family-style dining at its best, but take note: they close relatively early, with last orders at 9:30 PM. Must-Order Dishes:

• Spring Rolls with Crab Meat: Crispy, golden, and packed with fresh seafood.
• Grilled Prawn Patties: Smokey and savory.
• Grilled Pork Jowl: Perfectly charred with a melt-in-your-mouth texture.
• Grilled Cobia: A local favorite with firm, buttery white meat.
• Fried Rice with Nha Trang Crab: A signature dish that is best shared with the table.

Sailing Club Nha Trang

A pleasant surprise on the beachfront, the Sailing Club is a massive, stylish restaurant that transitions from a breezy lunch spot to a high-energy evening venue. The Espresso Martinis are fantastic, but the food is the real star:

• The Ceviche is vibrantly fresh.
• The Grilled Squid is a masterclass in texture, served with sweet potato mash, beetroot pickles, and crispy chickpeas that have the addictive crunch of popcorn.

Hang Ten at The Westin Resort & Spa Cam Ranh 

For the best ocean views in Cam Ranh, head to Hang Ten. This beachfront gem at The Westin bridges the gap between refined Italian comfort and bold Vietnamese flavors.

• The Highlight: Don't miss the grilled local sea urchin topped with scallion oil and soft egg—a local delicacy elevated for the luxury palate.
• From the Grill: The whole white pomfret and the 300g Bigfin reef squid showcase the incredible quality of locally sourced seafood that defines this region.

For the cocktail aficionados, award-winning Hybrid is a non-negotiable visit. Founded by local talent Lam Duong in 2019, this contemporary speakeasy uses molecular techniques to elevate local ingredients.

We ordered several cocktails and my favourite was the RE-*ORN Star made with passionfruit, honey, mascarpone, chardonnay, fino sherry, vodka, vanilla meringue. DEATH’S CHOKE was rather interesting featuring burnt cocoa butter, shoyu caramel, cocoa bitters, peychaud's, hennessy VS. There’s always a classic on the menu and the TRIO GIMLET did not disappoint with mandarin, lemon, lime, fino sherry, bombay sapphire. 

If you have extra time, don't just stay on the mainland. Nha Trang is an island-hopper's dream. Rent a catamaran for the day, go snorkeling in the protected waters of Hon Mun, or explore the secluded coves of the surrounding archipelago.

As an avid traveller to Southeast Asian islands, I can confidently say Nha Trang is underrated. With its blend of high-end gastronomy, ease of travel via Grab, and those short direct flights, it’s time to put this coastal gem on your 2026 travel radar.
