Desaru Coast Gourmet Series Returns with a Gastronomic Ode to Malaysian Flavours
Malaysia's premier destination resort Desaru Coast is pleased to announce the return of its renowned dining programme, Gourmet Series - A Malaysian Journey, for 2023. Throughout the year, the second edition of this meticulously curated culinary series will showcase contemporary and nostalgic Malaysian cuisine over three unique fine-dining experiences.
The 2023 Desaru Coast Gourmet Series will present three of Malaysia's acclaimed chefs, all of who got notable mentions in the first MICHELIN Guide Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Each instalment of the series will present a gastronomic journey that showcases local ingredients and iconic Malaysian flavours, in conjunction with Desaru Coast's Executive Chefs at its five-star resorts and properties. Additionally, each guest chef will create a special signature dish that will be available for a limited time exclusively at the host restaurant.
2023 Desaru Coast Gourmet - Series I of 2023

The event's theme, "Straits Food Redefined," features a degustation menu crafted in collaboration with the resort's Executive Chef, Fahdrul Abd Malek, offering playful and inventive twists on classic Peranakan dishes. Furthermore, the seaside brunch menu will also feature an array of decadent dishes.
Guests can look forward to savouring distinctive dishes such as succulent oysters with cucumber broth, herb oil and floral vinegar, and the familiar spice of nyonya acar with a twist with whipped tofu and house bread. Other items on the menu also include Char-grilled prawns with a coconut butter sauce infused with gula melaka, tender racks of lamb and rendang tok braised lamb cutlets, nasi ulam with salted duck egg, and many more.
What’s more, guests can enjoy wine pairings at dinner, carefully selected by a sommelier and featuring wines from Moët & Chandon, as well as choices from Whispering Angel and Terrazas de los Andes.
