Amouage Elsewhere turns an Omani opera commission into a 30% Essence de Parfum with fruit, spice, black tea, cappuccino and woods
Amouage is bringing Elsewhere to a global audience, a fragrance that first launched exclusively in Oman as part of the country’s first original opera.
In 2025, Oman’s Royal Opera House commissioned Amouage to create a perfume for its debut production, a retelling of the Sindbad legend. The resulting fragrance launched locally as Sindbad and soon attracted interest from collectors.
For its international release, while the fragrance has been renamed Elsewhere due to rights restrictions, Chief Creative Officer Renaud Salmon confirms that the composition itself remains unchanged.
The opera follows Sindbad on a journey to rescue a princess from a sorceress, with the story centred around a mythical elixir called the Fragrance of Life. Perfumer Pierre Negrin used this idea as the creative starting point for the scent.

What Amouage Elsewhere Smells Like
Elsewhere unfolds in three stages, reflecting the idea of leaving home, travelling into unfamiliar territory and eventually returning.
The fragrance opens with honey, apricot, mango, cardamom, ginger and tangerine, creating a warm mix of fruit and spice. At its heart are black tea, davana and a cappuccino accord, which gives the scent a smoky, creamy coffee character.
The base moves into tonka bean, vanilla, cedarwood, labdanum, cypriol, vetiver and patchouli, leaving a warmer, earthier finish.

Production Notes and Packaging
Elsewhere is part of Amouage’s Essences line, where the fragrance undergoes an extended ageing process. The concentrate is infused for six months with Australian sandalwood chips, while the alcohol used for dilution spends six months in oak barrels handmade by French cooperage Allary. The final fragrance then undergoes a further two-week maceration.
Elsewhere uses Amouage’s existing Essences flacon, with ridged glass that forms a twelve-point emblem when viewed from above. Details created specifically for the release include a compass-engraved medallion, a blue-toned label inspired by ocean travel and an hourglass graphic on the box. Artist Louise Mertens designed the outer sleeve, which features an anchor motif alongside abstract imagery.

Who Will Enjoy Amouage Elsewhere?
If you’re constantly chasing a scent that offers an unexpected twist, Amouage Elsewhere brings all of its rich and layered scents to deliver just that. The combination of honeyed fruit, warm spice, black tea and cappuccino gives it a distinctive character, while vanilla, tonka bean, woods and patchouli add depth as it settles. Those who already enjoy woody, spicy or ambery perfumes, and prefer something more unusual than a classic floral or fresh fragrance, will likely find plenty to like here.
Due to the high demand, Elsewhere is only available by pre-order in Escentials stores and is super limited in stocks.
