15-Year-Old Singaporean Racer Kareen Kaur Partners with MOTUL

Fifteen-year-old racing prodigy Kareen Kaur, one of Singapore’s most exciting young talents in motorsport, has announced a new collaboration with renowned French lubricant brand MOTUL, marking a milestone moment in her rapidly rising career.

How did it all begin? Tell us more about your first memory of karting.
Kareen: I started karting at the age of 9, and I vividly remember the excitement and challenge of my very first time behind the wheel. It was an unforgettable experience — feeling the speed, the focus required, and the thrill of racing in a competitive environment.
From that moment, I was hooked. Karting became not just a sport but a passion that has driven me ever since.
You balance rigorous training, including daily runs and gym sessions, with your academic studies. How do you manage this demanding schedule, and what sacrifices have you had to make to pursue your passion for karting?
Kareen: Balancing school and racing is definitely challenging, but it’s all about discipline and time management. I attend CHIJ Secondary, which has been supportive in allowing me to pursue my passion alongside academics.
I organise my days carefully, fitting in training sessions, runs, gym workouts, and schoolwork. Sacrifices include less free time for social activities and hobbies, but I see it as an investment in my dream. The support from my family, school, and teams has been invaluable in helping me stay focused.

As a young female racer in a traditionally male-dominated sport, what has been the most significant challenge you've faced, and how have you overcome it to become Singapore's fastest female karter?
Kareen: One of the biggest challenges is breaking stereotypes and proving that gender doesn’t define capability in motorsports.
Often, I’ve been the only female on the track or in the team, which can feel isolating. But I’ve always focused on my performance, resilience, and learning from every experience. Being consistent, adaptable, and mentally strong has helped me earn respect and achieve the status of Singapore’s fastest female karter. I hope my journey encourages more girls to believe in themselves and pursue their passions fearlessly.
You've experienced a significant crash in a race but returned to the track the next day. Can you describe that experience and how you mentally and physically recovered to continue competing? What role does mental fortitude play in your sport?
Kareen: Crashes are tough both physically and mentally. After the crash, I focused on quick physical recovery through endurance training and oxygen therapy sessions. Mentally, it’s about staying calm, analysing what went wrong, and using it as a learning opportunity rather than a setback. Mental fortitude is critical in racing — the ability to stay optimistic, focused, and resilient under pressure makes the difference between winning and giving up.
I’m grateful to have a strong support system, including coaches and teammates, who help me bounce back stronger.

Beyond your personal racing goals, you've also expressed a desire to inspire other women to get into karting. What message do you hope to convey to aspiring female drivers, and what changes would you like to see in the motorsports community to encourage more female participation?
Kareen: I want every aspiring female racer to know that their dreams are valid and achievable. Motorsport needs more diversity, and female participation should be welcomed and supported at every level. I encourage young women to be confident, seek mentorship, and embrace challenges.
The motorsports community should create more inclusive opportunities, provide tailored support, and celebrate female achievements more prominently to foster growth. Together, we can break barriers and change the face of racing.
Any other information or message you would like to share?
I’m deeply grateful for the journey so far. Training with the Asia Racing Team in Formula 4 has been a major step in my career. It has opened my eyes to what’s needed at the next level — precision, endurance, and adaptability.
My karting journey has been supported by 29R Racing Development here in Singapore, where I’ve grown as a driver and competitor. Internationally, racing with GSR Racing Team in Italy has challenged me to raise my standards and learn from some of the best. I’m also thankful to Tony Kart Asia for their technical support, which has been crucial in helping me perform at my best.
My goals include podium finishes in senior karting and competing in FIA-sanctioned F4 events. But beyond racing, I want to use my story to inspire others, whether that’s on the track or by speaking with youth at events and schools. I’m honoured to serve as a youth ambassador for the Singapore Cancer Society, using my platform in motorsports to raise awareness and support for cancer patients. I regularly display cancer awareness messages on my kart during races and proudly wear the Singapore Cancer Society logo on my race suit alongside my sponsors.
With continued support from my school, CHIJ Secondary, my teams, and Singapore’s motorsports community, I’m chasing my dream one race at a time, while striving to make a positive difference both on and off the track.
