What to Expect at Colugo Camp
Mandai Wildlife Reserve has been steadily transforming into one of Singapore’s most exciting destinations. From the breathtaking Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree(read our review here) to the launch of Colugo Camp, the reserve offers the world’s most iconic parks, eco-luxury stays and now an overnight camp for families to sleep in.
The campsite features 20 safari-style tents overlooking the Upper Seletar Reservoir, each accommodating up to four guests. Inside, you’ll find a queen-sized bed, a bunk bed, ceiling and standing fans, and portable air-conditioning, so comfort is never compromised. Every tent comes with two animal plushies to take home as souvenirs.
There’s also a photo-worthy outdoor patio, and yes, you are still connected with Wi-Fi access.

Meals are part of the experience; from the welcome drink at check-in to the Asian buffet dinner, light supper, and international breakfast the next morning. All are served at the communal dining hall, styled like a modern café that doubles as a welcome escape from the midday heat. To protect local wildlife such as long-tailed macaques, eating in tents is discouraged.
And about those shared bathrooms? If, like us, the idea of a shared toilet makes you nervous, you’ll be happy to find these clean, modern toilets and showers, an easy walk from your tent. Families have access to dedicated bathrooms with both a toilet and shower area, plus a sink and bench so little ones can tag along comfortably.

2D1N Itinerary at Colugo Camp
We recently had the pleasure of enjoying a stay at the Colugo Camp, and here’s our honest review of the itinerary and key tips to keep in mind. The 2D1N camp begins with check-in and a welcome drink at 3 pm, followed by dropping your bags at an airy safari-style tent. Each tent also comes with a padlock, so you can rest assured your valuables will be safe while you're away exploring the parks.
Soon after check-in, we made our way to the Singapore Zoo for an afternoon of free-and-easy exploration. Wandering through the zoo in the afternoon felt leisurely and relaxed, with most of the crowds having made their way home. We also had a chance to see a few special feedings, and enjoyed our favourite Splash Safari show with front row seats - the best way to get soaked! Before long, the promise of a hearty Asian buffet dinner drew us back to camp, where several dishes served in a communal dining hall prepped us for the evening’s main event.

As dusk fell, we headed to the Night Safari, where reserved priority seating gave us a frontal view of the animal interactions. Guests at Colugo Camp also get access to an exclusive tram, reserved just for the camp, complete with live commentary as you watch nocturnal animals come alive under the stars. Knowing we’d be heading back to sleep just minutes away, made the experience feel even more special - no rush to taxi queues, or missed bedtimes.
Back at Colugo Camp Singapore, supper was waiting in the form of simple sandwiches and iced Milo, a fun way to close the first night on our camping adventure. Falling asleep in a tent surrounded by nature, yet cooled by air-conditioning and with the comfort of real beds, was camping at its most civilised. As for the shared toilets, these were only a minute’s walk from our tent, a minor inconvenience but not something that would stop us from visiting again.
The next morning began with beautiful reservoir views alongside a generous international breakfast buffet. You can expect a variety of baked goods, alongside fruits and typical breakfast items such as scrambled eggs, beans, sausage and bacon.
Early entry and a guided tour to River Wonders followed, with camp facilitators leading us through the exhibits before the crowds arrived. It was the perfect way to round off our stay before check-out at 11 am, though we opted to leave our bags at reception so we could linger a little longer in the parks.

Essential Tips for Families Staying at Colugo Camp Singapore
- Beat the heat: Afternoon access to the Singapore Zoo after check-in might feel like you don’t get enough time, but it also means you skip the midday sun and morning crowds. It was one of the most comfortable zoo visits we’ve had.
- Pack wisely: Towels, pillows, and blankets are provided, but bring refillable water bottles(water dispensers are available), insect repellent, toiletries like toothbrushes and toothpaste, and single-use amenities such as dental kits. Shower gels and shampoos are available in the bathrooms.
- Comfort: Be ready for long walks, and Singapore’s heat(or rain!). Wear comfy sneakers, and bring along portable fans and ponchos.
- Air conditioning: Don’t underestimate the portable air-conditioning and fans in your tent. The reservoir breeze can get chilly at night, so like us, you may find yourself turning the aircon down. Luckily, they also provide blankets in the tent!
- Mind the quiet hours: Tents aren’t soundproof, so quiet hours between 10.30 p.m. and 7 a.m. help everyone enjoy a restful night. Early morning or late-night bathroom trips might create some creaking on the wooden walkways, so light sleepers may want earplugs.
- Snacks & dining: Outside food is fine in the parks, but discouraged inside the tents to avoid attracting wildlife. All main meals are provided in the communal dining hall.
- Luggage & devices: If you plan to stay after check-out, luggage can be stored at reception. There are plenty of power points in each tent to charge phones and devices.
- Insect protection: This is a wildlife zone, so remember to pack enough repellent
- Extras: Want to extend your stay or looking for add-ons? Contact Colugo Camp for any extras, including Wine Down baskets with wine and cheese or Wild Supplies snack packs.

Is Colugo Camp Singapore Worth It for Families and Visitors?
Colugo Camp Singapore turned out to be one of the easiest ways we’ve found to immerse kids in nature without sacrificing the comfort and safety of a well-organised stay. Everything is so well planned, from the park tickets to the guided tours, that you barely need to think about logistics. Sure, the itinerary feels busy at times, but looking back, it’s the perfect way to see all three parks in one go while soaking up so many fascinating insights along the way.
What really made the experience? The camp facilitators. Each had a way of bringing Mandai to life through fun facts, stories, and little nuggets of wildlife wisdom that made the whole trip feel personal. More than once, we lingered over a meal at the dining hall while the kids happily chatted away with the guides about nocturnal animals and conservation efforts.
For families with a budding wildlife enthusiast or just anyone who loves the idea of camping overnight near the zoo, Colugo Camp is worth every bit of consideration. At $800 for a group of four, it might sound like a splurge at first, but with meals, admission to three wildlife parks, and priority tours all bundled in, the experience delivers genuine value. It mixes the excitement of camping with the ease of a resort stay, making it a memorable family getaway in Singapore.
