Cirque Alice Singapore Review: A Whimsical Reimagining of Wonderland at Marina Bay Sands
A dreamlike mix of illusion, acrobatics and theatre: Cirque Alice is Singapore’s must-see spectacle this season
If you’re looking for something spectacular to do in Singapore in October, Cirque Alice should trump it all. Marina Bay Sands transforms into a whimsical Wonderland as the production makes its Asia premiere at the Sands Theatre. Conceived by Tim Lawson of TML Enterprises and Simon Painter of Painter Productions, the creative forces behind Cirque du Soleil’s Mad Apple and Broadway’s The Illusionists, this new cirque experience blends artistry, dance, music and fanfare in one mesmerising performance.

Cirque Alice: Wonderland Reimagined
From the moment you step into the Sands Theatre, it’s clear this isn’t your typical stage show. The setup feels intimate, framed by striking lights and tiered seating that wraps around the performance space. Even the audience is dressed for the occasion: playful, expectant, and ready for an evening that promises wonder at every turn.
Inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Cirque Alice reinterprets Lewis Carroll’s classic through a bold, modern lens. Expect larger-than-life characters, imaginative staging, and surreal costumes that pull you straight into the heart of this fantastical world.

Performance Highlights
We knew Cirque Alice would bring together a world-class cast of acrobats, aerialists, contortionists, dancers and puppeteers, all performing to a soundtrack of contemporary takes on classical favourites. The immersive setup, with on-stage seating placing a lucky few right in the middle of the spectacle, already sounded impressive on paper.
What we didn’t expect was the sheer extravagance of it all. From breathtaking set design and extraordinary costumes to the seamless fusion of comedy, song, contortion and high-flying acrobatics. This is circus reimagined, bold, imaginative and gloriously up close.

The Cast & Characters
As you’d expect, the characters in Cirque Alice are designed to captivate with every act. At the centre of it is the exceptionally talented Alice, whose soaring vocals and aerial sequence in a shimmering blue dress earned some of the early applause of the night. The energy builds with a series of daring acrobatic and juggling performances, where we found ourselves holding our breath more than once.
Then comes the Mad Hatter, an instant crowd favourite, delivering bursts of laughter and spontaneous audience participation. One moment he’s bantering with guests, the next he’s trapped inside a giant balloon: children and adults alike roaring with laughter.
Just as we thought the spectacle couldn’t get grander, the Queen of Hearts made her entrance, flanked by her troupe of Checkers. The Checker boys performed gravity-defying head-balancing feats, while the Queen commanded the stage with unbelievable feats of the body.
And then, the finale lifts the energy to new heights. The flamingos’ aerial act is pure visual poetry, followed by a pair of skaters whose lightning-fast spins and daring proximity had us on the edge of our seats. It’s theatrical voyeurism at its peak, a sensational evening that is loved by people of all ages.

Oh, what a night! Cirque Alice is a must-watch at Marina Bay Sands. A magical, larger-than-life show filled with mind-blowing acrobatics and reimagined fantasy, it grips you from start to finish.
Blending fantasy, physical theatre and music, Cirque Alice delivers a spectacle unlike anything else in Singapore’s performance scene — one that delights, surprises and connects with every generation in the audience.
