Pilates has caught on quickly in Singapore: the short, low-impact but result-heavy workouts have been popular with those of us who want to tone ourselves, build up our strength, or just need a quick break. First pioneered by Joseph Pilates in the 20th century, this enduring workout method focuses on alignment, breathing and balance.
From classic mat pilates to reformer pilates, which requires the use of a Reformer machine, pilates has transformed itself over the years: new methods use all kinds of weird and wonderful equipment, like yoga balls and vibrating plates, and involve lots of targeted strengthening workouts. Whether you’d like to build endurance, recover from injury, or need pre- or post-partum training, pilates has a solution for you, and it’s easier than ever to create a workout plan with the many skilled instructors out there.
From group sessions of up to ten people to intimate classes with friends, these pilates studios provide safety, comfort, and effective exercise. Many studios also offer adjacent exercise styles like yoga and barre: why not mix and match and make the most of a weekend afternoon?

BE. Studios – Boutique Pilates Studio With Group And Private Classes
Be. Studios was founded as a boutique pilates studio with a lineup of experienced instructors and classes for every experience level. Priding themselves on personalisation and expertise, the studio also offers private sessions, duet sessions with a friend, or small group classes for those who want more privacy.
The studio has a wide range of classes, including basic mat pilates, Reformer Pilates, and workouts that require advanced equipment: the Stability Chair class provides a full-body exercise suited to both beginners and experienced Pilates enthusiasts. The Reformer Circuit, a structured and progressive class, takes you through targeted Reformer and Mat exercises to enhance control and stamina without the need for high-impact movements. Each session has a small class size of five to ten people and an average duration of 55 minutes, though there’s also a “Lunch Crunch” class: a compact midday session that takes 45 minutes.
Be. Studios offers classes for pre- or post-natal workouts and injury recovery: if you have specific concerns or would like to request a certain program, sign up for a private session, which allows for full customisation and privacy.

Focus Movement – Integrated Wellness And Pilates Studio With Affordable Trial Sessions
Before there was yoga studio Ahimsa Sanctuary or the Trapeze Rec. Club, there was Focus Movement: one of Singapore’s first integrated pilates and wellness studios. Offering both physiotherapy and strength-building pilates courses, this studio is also especially welcoming of beginners: classes are sorted by experience level and are easy to navigate.
Focus Movement offers several specialised classes centered on reformer pilates: a form of exercise that uses low-impact, full-body workouts and a Reformer machine. Suitable for pilates practitioners of all levels, it is easily accessible and adaptable for various purposes: the studio offers a Backcare Reformer class for spine health, Prenatal Pilates Reformer for prenatal strength training, Pilates Reformer for Active Ageing, and more. A form of pilates-based physiotherapy, known as Physio-pilates, is also practiced at the studio, which targets muscle imbalances, chronic pain, and injury prevention.
Trial sessions, which are available at every experience level, are available from just S$28: Focus Movement understands how much a good studio environment means to pilates practitioners. With over 80 classes a week, the studio has also branched out into related strength conditioning and wellness courses: running conditioning, ski board training, and postnatal rehabilitation exercises.

Off Duty Pilates – Relaxing Pilates Classes For Productive Strength-Building
Off Duty Pilates has relaxation right in the name: as a studio that promises to make working out as effortless as leisure, it’s designed as a wholesome, productive space. Offering both Reformer and equipment pilates, each class is kept at a maximum size of nine people for a conducive environment.
Off Duty’s classes have a unique prerequisite system: since the studio’s Pilates training techniques are unique, Essentials classes have to be attended (three to five, for a subsequent Level 1 class) to join a higher-level class. This system is more suited to beginners, although the Essentials classes focus on core activation and muscle engagement that are suited to all experience levels. As you progress through levels, you’ll have the opportunity to join BOSU ball classes, Springboard & Chair classes, and strength training classes.
These classes are best for someone who looks to be challenged: the game-like system provides intrinsic motivation and pushes practitioners to their limits. Off Duty’s upbeat approach to pilates is one of the most unique we’ve seen so far: whether you’re a novice or an expert, it’s worth a try.

Lab Studios – Multi-Wellness Studio With Pilates, Barre and Yoga Classes
Lab Studios’ beautiful spaces, filled with natural light, host a multi-wellness programme home to pilates, barre and yoga classes. Promising judgement-free zones for both beginners and seasoned athletes, Lab Studios’ programmes target underused muscle groups, improve mobility and correct imbalances while staying engaging.
This studio offers three kinds of pilates classes: classic reformer pilates, mat pilates, and LabX pilates: a form of slow-resistance training with a LabFormer machine that uses slower, more deliberate movements. Each class is marked with experience level needed: beginner, intermediate or open to all. Lab Studios’ signature class, the Reformer Signature, is a beginner-level class (but suited to all) that builds a strong foundation and encourages mindful pacing, focused breath, and intentional movement.
If you’ve got the energy, you can line up pilates classes with barre and yoga: classes include the Yoga Playground, a series of intelligently designed yoga sequences, and Barre Cardio, which does exactly as it suggests. Lab Studios’ founder Jasmine has additionally created the “Yobarre” class, which is available for sign-ups: a fusion of yoga and barre, it’s an open-to-all class that combines the mindfulness and mobility of yoga with the strength training of barre.

Piladay Studios – Boutique Pilates Studio With Korean Physical Therapy Influences
The only studio on this list to incorporate Korean physical therapy into training, Piladay Studios provides a conducive environment at both locations and entirely private training. That’s right, no group classes: all sessions involve one, two or three participants (of your choice) to ensure absolute safety and attention to your workouts.
Piladay Studios partners exclusively with Fonv Academy, a Korean pilates school led by Headmaster Instructor Lee Eun-Jung. This school of pilates blends traditional pilates principles with Korean health teachings that promote mindfulness and balance: it uses a special set of machinery, available for use only at Piladay in Singapore. This one’s for advanced pilates practitioners: Piladay has an instructor course available, the Fonv Academy Instructor Course, that’s divided into two levels and starts your journey to becoming a certified pilates instructor.
Despite the private settings and small-group classes, Piladay aims to nurture a vibrant community with plenty of regular events and seminars. If you’d still like a group class, though, you can opt for one of Piladay Studios’ partnered classes with Minmed Wellness: these are non-traditional, outdoor pilates classes that rebalance the body.
