Being a food paradise, it should be customary to take your mother out to a fancy meal on Mother’s Day in Singapore and pamper her silly with lots of yummy treats. Whether it’s a luxurious buffet spread, a glorious high-tea, a champagne brunch or just some good old local flavours, don’t forget to shower mum with abundant love this Mother’s Day.

1. WAKANUI Grill Dining Singapore

For an intimate getaway, WAKANUI Grill Dining Singapore offers a dainty 5-course Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, 12 May 2019 and Dinner on 10, 11 and 12 May. Tucked away amidst the lush greenery of Marina One, indulge in the best of New Zealand’s produce and signature cuts executed with fine Japanese finesse.

Specially curated by Executive Chef Ryohei Kenyoshi, start the 5-course meal with Broiled Whelk and Fava Beans followed by Cauliflower and Lotus Tempura. The Grilled Spanish Mackerel in saikyo miso and uni is sure to delight the palate with ocean-fresh flavours. Pick from mains of Ocean Beef Ribeye if you’re looking to satiate your meat-hankering desires, or the Char-grilled Boston Lobster if you prefer a lighter meal. Aptly named Sunflower, the course ends with a sweet treat of pumpkin cake with gooseberries, blood orange anglaise sauce and surprise pop rocks.

2. The Spot

Swoon the queen of the family over with jazz tunes and a luxurious spread of contemporary European cuisine made with the freshest Southeast Asian ingredients at The Spot. A Jazzy Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, 12 May 2019 starts with a toast of cava and an array of sharing dishes including Pacific Oysters, Sautéed Spring Bay Mussels, and house favourite Beef Carpaccio.

Be spoilt for choice with endless rounds of canapes of Lime Cured Salmon Eclair, Chestnut Soup, Hokkaido Scallop and Foie Gras with pink ginger strawberry compote. Mains come as a choice of Roasted Pork Belly, Pan-fried Barramundi, Roasted Whole Chicken, Wagyu Beef Cheeks or Spinach Gnocchi with roasted fig. 3. Fat Chap

Located at Suntec City, treat mothers to An Indo Communal Brunch at Fat Chap featuring a live cooking demonstration lead by Medanese Head Chef Selamat Susanto – a perfect Sunday family-bonding activity. The young chef will demonstrate a simple kampong chicken marinade recipe as well as how to prepare perkedel or potato cake at home on Sunday, 12 May 2019.

The cooking demo is followed by a communal table spread or Kembul Bujana, a common Indonesian practice to party over a feast. Impress the family with a traditional platter of Nasi Tumpeng with coconut scented butterfly pea rice, roasted kampong chicken, grilled whole fish, tempeh, perkedel and sambal prawns. Served with sides of prawn crackers, caramelized silverfish, peanuts, egg ribbons and a variety of vegetables cooked two ways. End the epic meal with a refreshing shaved ice dessert with fresh coconut and rose syrup – traditionally named Es Kopyor.

4. New Ubin Seafood

If your mother is a seafood lover, this is the place to go! Homegrown restaurant chain New Ubin Group’s first hotel restaurant at Zhongshan Park offers a truly Singaporean tze char experience. Keeping culinary standards in check is Wyndham Singapore’s Executive Chef Melvin Lim, who helms four of New Ubin’s very demanding kitchens. Enjoy their finger-licking signature dishes such as Mud Crabs the New Ubin way – garlic baked with heaps of fresh cloves that are roasted to sweet-smoky perfection. 

Other highlights at New Ubin Seafood include Carabinero Prawns, Foie Gras Egg Special, Live Scottish Blue Mussels, Barbecued Whole Mackerel, and Hokkien Mee Special. 5. L’Espresso, Goodwood Park Hotel

Is mum all about the high-tea life? L’Espresso at Goodwood Park Hotel offers a Mother’s Day English Afternoon High Tea Buffet featuring a dazzling assortment of dainty sandwiches, salads, savouries, pastries, desserts, chocolate fountain and traditional English scones.  

Mothers are sure to be impressed by the buffet spread. The ‘live’ carving station takes center stage with a succulent Beef Wellington with Merlot Jus. The Villa's Mother's Day lunch buffet on Sunday, 12 May 2019, showcases a sumptuous spread of signature modern European cuisine with Asian touches. Expect favourites like the Chilli Crab Spaghettini made a la minute from the Pasta Station; Angus Beef Striploin from the Carving Station, as well as a medley of the freshest seafood from mussels to scallops and prawns. Mexican cantina Chimichanga is celebrating Mother's Day by offering something special for all mums. With every S$50 spent, mum will be entitled to a free lobster! Head on down with the family to this restaurant in the heart of Little India for Mexican nosh and refreshing tipples. Needless to say, the chimichangas are a speciality, while the tacos and margaritas are excellent too.
