For the uninitiated, Louis Vuitton’s “Series 3” is a stand-alone exhibition showcasing a designer and his creative process and influences. The exhibition delves into the creative mind of Nicolas Ghesquière’s Autumn-Winter 2015/2016 collection for Louis Vuitton. It draws on his ‘stream of consciousness, dreams and self-reflexive journeys.’ It is half designer’s soul and half artisan’s heart, representing the intricate process that goes into a Louis Vuitton design.
The exhibition showcases 7 different rooms including including Mastermind, Artist’s Hands, Infinite Show, Accessories Gallery, Walk-in Wardrobe, Tale of Craftsmanship and Lounge. Other areas worth highlighting include the Insta-Marte sculpture, where visitors are invited to be photographed with the avatar of model, Marte Mei van Haaster, one of Nicolas Ghesquière’s muses, and the sticker wall within the Louis Vuitton pop-up lounge.
Visitors to the exhibition may sit down and enjoy light dishes, desserts and refreshments from an exclusive menu at the first ever Louis Vuitton pop-up lounge. At the same time, they may select their favourite product and initials stickers from the sticker wall as a take-home momento. Guests are then invited to continue their journey at the Louis Vuitton Island Maison Gallery at the central side of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands where you can discover more of Louis Vuitton’s special services and creations. There are four designs of the Series 3 posters to be collected from the following Louis Vuitton stores: Marina Bay Sands Island Maison, Ngee Ann City and ION Orchard.
Our favourite exhibition rooms were Infinite Show, Accessories Gallery, Walk In Wardrobe and A Tale of Craftsmanship.
This exhibit is essentially a perpetual fashion show, where viewers can relive the excitement of a fashion show at the Louis Vuitton Foundation, where the Autumn-Winter 2015-2016 collection was previewed.
Possibly our favourite of all the exhibition rooms, we love the minimalistic but uber-chic modern style of the exhibit, where the accessories stand out but at the same time complement the surroundings. The gallery emphasises that accessories are an integral part of each outfit, ‘either clashing or complementing it’. The exhibit features Marte Mei van Haaster’s avatar and accessories from, you guessed it, the Autumn-Winter 2015/2016 collection.
Walk In Wardrobe
We just love the entire aesthetic of this. It speaks to a woman and tells her the wardrobe is a getaway to a thousand possibilities.
A Tale of Craftsmanship
This ‘live’ exhibit helps the viewer appreciate and understand the work that goes into creating each and every piece at Louis Vuitton. It gives one a chance to see LV artisans at work and experience life in the atelier where only hands can yield such beauty.
All in all, the exhibit gives its viewers a truly unique perspective to explore the delicate process of an unforgettable designs, from conception to completion, leaving all the minor details for us to delve deeper into.
The free admission exhibition is running from now until 23rd December 2015 and is open to the public daily 11am – 11pm from Sunday to Thursday and 11am – 11.30pm on Friday and Saturday. Guests may skip the queue by booking their tickets or guided tours online: http://eu.louisvuitton.com/eng-e1/fashion/series-3-exhibition-singapore#/home.
