One of the largest distillers of the world and a multinational alcoholic beverage company, DIAGEO and broadcaster HBO are raising a toast to celebrate the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones with an exclusively launched limited edition Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky collection inspired by the characters of the TV series.
The Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection features eight scotches including exclusive whiskies from Diageo's Cask of Distinction collection. Each whisky is paired with one of the iconic Houses of Westeros, as well as the Night's Watch, giving fans an authentic taste of the Seven Kingdoms and beyond.
1. Oban Bay Reserve - Game of Thrones The Night’s Watch
Just as Castle Black separated the land and sea, the Oban distillery rests beneath a steep cliff that overlooks the bay in the frontier amidst the western Highlands and the Scottish islands. The liquid's richness is balanced with a woody, spicy dryness that The Night's Watch could enjoy even on the coldest of nights.
2. Dalwhinnie Winter's Frost - Game of Thrones House Stark
Dalwhinnie is reclaimed for being one of the highest distilleries in the whole of Scotland with cold and difficult climate situations, same as those of the Northern seat of power, Winterfell. Extreme conditions are responsible for shaping the signature honeyed sweetness and spicy warmth of this drink.
3. Cardhu Gold Reserve - Game of Thrones House Targaryen
The Cardhu distillery was pioneered by Helen Cumming and Elizabeth during the 1800s, a time when the whisky industry was almost entirely male-dominated and honouring the matching fierce spirit of the leader of House Targaryen, Daenerys Stormborn, Gold Reserve is a fitting match.
4. Lagavulin 9 Year Old - Game of Thrones House Lannister
Crafted with meticulous calculations and tenacity on the shores of Islay for last 200 years, Lagavulin is a single malt scotch that mirrors the Lannister’s rich and powerful and is served either neat or with a single drop of water.
5. Clynelish Reserve - Game of Thrones House Tyrell
Such as the lushness of the high gardens, Clynelish is positioned among green pastures and rolling hills, with scenic views of the North Sea. This vibrant, golden scotch is light and floral, like House Tyrell, and it's not to be underestimated with its underlying complex combination of Highland and maritime qualities.
6. The Singleton Glendullan Select - Game of Thrones House Tully
Harnessing the water that flows through the Singleton Glendullan Select with a water wheel to power the distillery, Glendullan Select made on the banks of the River Fiddich in the wooded hills of Dufftown befits the culture of the lord of the Riverlands.
7. Talisker Select Reserve - Game of Thrones House Greyjoy
House Greyjoy rules the Iron Islands and worships the Drowned God and Talisker is one of the most remote and rugged areas of Scotland. The layered flavours and signature maritime character are the results of its wave-battered shores. This liquid is an intense smoky single malt scotch with spicy, powerful and sweet elements combined with maritime flavours.
8. Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old - Game of Thrones House Baratheon
An amalgamation of delicate fruits and spices, the Royal Lochnagar has been granted a royal warrant after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert paid a visit to the distillery in 1848, symbolic of an ode to the royal lineage driven between Robert Baratheon and Iron Throne.
