Who says singles can’t celebrate Valentine’s Day? There’s plenty to do in February!

Share

Just because you’re not in a romantic relationship doesn’t mean that 14 February can’t be a special day. We think Valentine’s Day should be more inclusive. So if you’re single, we’ve come up with a list of fun things to do this year.

1. Celebrate at an All-Singles Party

If you’re single on Valentine’s Day, you’re invited to the award-winning singles-only party, Valentine Vendetta held at Clarke Quay Fountain Square on 14 February 2019. It’s going to be all fun and games, mingling, getting acquainted with new people, and simply having a great time! You can even win attractive prizes worth up to S$2,500 from Fervor Montréal, The Black Rose and a 2-night stay at The Farm At San Benito Lipa Batangas.

Indulge in Mojitos and the famous Paella prepared by Cuba Libre Cafe & Bar’s in-house Cuban Executive Chef Alex Moreno, Bangers & Mash and Waffle Fries by British Gastrobar Cask and Bangers, and classic German food such as Pork Knuckles and Sauerkraut by Deutschlander SG. Two after parties await you! Head down to Cuba Libre to dance or Get Juiced for drinks priced at $5.

Early bird tickets are now available online.

2. Enjoy 12 Happy Hours

Flying solo on Valentine's Day isn't a tragedy but if you'd rather avoid all the swooning couples and jam-packed restaurants, celebrate Valentine’s Day with an amigo. In celebration of friendships, Chimi’s presents Friends with Benefits - the longest happy hours on Valentine’s day in the CBD. Bring a friend and enjoy 1-for-1 on Budweiser pints, house pour drinks, red and white house wines from 12pm to 12am! No lovey-dovey couples, no sappy songs, just great 90s music with DJ Andrew Mckay from Australia and a stunning view of the bay.

3. Dance Away at a Silent Disco

In conjunction with i Light Singapore, Silent Disco Asia is back and is taking over the atrium space of ArtScience Museum this year starting from 2 February 2019. Also back by popular demand will be a Bollywood-themed special edition on 22 February. There will be three DJs playing simultaneously from 9pm to 1am and party-goers can switch among the different channels on individual headsets. There could be the latest chart-topping pop grooves on one channel, pumping electronic house and EDM music on the other channel, and sing-along rock and indie anthems on the last channel - it’s up to you to decide what tunes you want to bounce to!

4. Try a New Restaurant or Bar

Chi Kinjo, a Modern Sushi Bar and Highball Den has opened its doors at Telok Ayer. Indulge in contemporary Japanese Cuisine helmed by Chef Lamley Chua, who brings a lifetime of experience working in International and Michelin Star restaurants. The Crouching Tiger Roll, which features crunchy prawn tempura, tiger prawns and sakura ebi, is a must-try. Pair this with the refreshing Shiso Watermelon cocktail that incorporates Shiso Sake, watermelon juice, calamansi, syrup and lemon juice, and you’ll be in culinary heaven.

5. Meet Captain Marvel

Are you a Marvel fan? One of the most powerful Superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Captain Marvel – is set to make landfall at Marina Bay Sands for a special red carpet fan event on 14 February 2019. The event will see Hollywood stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Gemma Chan, along with the film’s directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Registration to this free-to-public event will commence at 10am on Sunday, 10 February.

6. Visit a Bookstore

Land on The Moon and get lost in the literary world as the venue brings you a bookstore and cafe. Nestled in historical Chinatown, the place is a haven for all sorts of wacky and whimsy, as the books are curated with an especial focus on writers and artists of colour. Even the cafe menu has been designed to accommodate all dietary restrictions and choices. The Moon occasionally holds events such as full moon meditation, poetry night, and craft sessions.

7. Catch a Classic Movie in an Outdoor Cinema

Popcorn Pop-up Cinema brings you the ultimate outdoor movie experience with shows at Singapore’s coolest venues including rooftop bars and restaurants. Back To The Future, the sci-fi classic featuring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, will be screening at Bar Canary on 12 February 2019. Enjoy a stellar poolside cinematic experience privy to stunning evening views in Orchard Road's uber-chic tropical oasis with your friends and family!

8. Watch a Theatre Performance

Impromptu theatre meets speed dating meets performance art at Telok Ayer Arts Club. On 14 February 2019, Dawn Ng will be performing a piece titled ‘11’ involving 11 pairs of strangers and 11 scripts as part of a social experiment. Starting at the bar, participants are led into a small ‘black box’ theatre lined with 11 confessional booths, in which they share 3-minute dialogues that throw them into the deep end of 11 fictional relationships.
