International celebrity couturier Elizabeth Grace launched her first Singapore bridal atelier in Singapore. The launch party was attended by over 50 guests, including sixteen-time Grammy Award-winning record producer David Foster, singer Fernando Varela, American Idol star Pia Toscano, and Singapore's very own celebrity emcee May Wan.
Vanilla Luxury: Share with us a little bit about your background in fashion?
Elizabeth Grace: I’ve had over 10 years of experience in designing women's wear and formal wear. I’ve had the privilege to dress sixteen-time Grammy Award-winning record producer and songwriter David Foster, Formula 1 drivers Sergey Sirotkin, Marc Gene, Antonio Giovinazzi and Sean Gelael as well as British talent Kelly Brook and US actress, singer/songwriter Katharine McPhee.
I used to design for brands like Dorothy Perkins, River Island, ASOS and New Look while working in London. I came to Singapore and started Lazada’s online collection of Formalwear fashion when they were just a startup 5 years ago.
Vanilla Luxury: As this is your first bridal atelier, what made you choose to launch in Singapore?
Elizabeth Grace: It was founded out of my own experience as a bride in Singapore. When I was looking for a dress I was faced with hard selling boutiques and styles that were just not me. I didn't exactly know what style I wanted but I knew I didn't want to feel stuck in a mountain of polyester tulle all day! I also wasn't happy to pay the extortionate price tags of the imported European designer labels here. I decided to make my own dress that was able to transform into 3 different styles throughout the day. Other brides reached out to me as they were facing the same problems here in Singapore, sharing their disappointing wedding experiences. From that day I decided to help brides in Singapore have a more positive wedding experience.
Vanilla Luxury: Share with us a little more about Elizabeth Grace Couture’s White Collection?
Elizabeth Grace Couture’s White Collection features gowns that can live beyond the wedding day. Cleverly designed gowns that can transform seamlessly into versatile bridal separates. Designs that can turn from a stunning dramatic wedding dress into a sleek pantsuit or a whimsical evening gown.
With these White Collection dresses, I want to give modern, free-spirited brides more control over how they want to look on their special day. Being able to mix-and-match separates and styles means that brides can change looks throughout the day to suit their needs; they can have a train for a dramatic entrance, and a shorter, simpler dress for dancing after,” said Elizabeth Grace. “Most importantly, these dresses can be worn even after the wedding, so brides can relive the magical feeling of romance in their everyday lives.
Vanilla Luxury: What makes Elizabeth Grace Couture’s gowns unique?
Elizabeth Grace: Each gown is made-to-measure starting with a 3D scanning consultation at the atelier. Once scanned, 3D printing technology produces an accurate mannequin with which the atelier’s dressmakers can then produce a perfectly-fitted gown. Each gown takes 3-6 months to produce and is handmade from a mixture of European fabrics, and Japanese and French laces in a classic white, ivory and cream colour palette.
On a non-technical note! I have partnered with Panamericana to give brides an unforgettable experience. Getting married is a celebration from day one! So all brides get a glass of Chilled Panamericana prosecco at her first wedding dress consultation just like the movies!
Vanilla Luxury: What can fans of Elizabeth Grace Couture look forward to down the line?
