Next-Gen Skin Renewal? Dr Tam at EHA Clinic Shares His Take on the Digital Peel
We speak to Dr Tam of EHA Clinic about the Digital Peel, its benefits and how it offers clearer, brighter skin with minimal downtime
Ever wondered how some people manage that polished glow without putting their skin through harsh treatments or long recovery periods? Many of us love the idea of lasers, yet the thought of peeling or hiding indoors for days often feels like a step too far.
So when the Digital Peel revolution began, offering smoother, clearer skin with far shorter downtime, it immediately caught interest. Could this be the kind of treatment that fits real life, rather than taking over a whole week?
That curiosity led us to EHA Clinic, headed by Dr Tam, a well-respected name in Singapore’s aesthetic circle. His steady approach, long experience and approachable manner make the clinic a natural place to turn to when you want results without the stress.
In the conversation ahead, he shares how the Digital Peel works, why it has gained so much attention and how it can support a routine built on consistent skin-exercise for a fresher, healthier glow.

Could you tell us a little about yourself, your background in aesthetics, and what inspired you to open EHA Clinic?
Dr Tam: I founded my medical practice in 1998. Over the years, the complexity of my patients' skin concerns motivated me to deepen my expertise in dermatology. I pursued various courses, including a diploma in Dermatology, and gained board certification from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, where I was also honoured to serve as a local faculty member. Additionally, I hold a Master of Science in Aesthetic Medicine and currently serve as an honorary clinical lecturer at University College London in the Master of Surgery in Aesthetics. These experiences fostered my passion for delivering personalised, effective skincare solutions.
What are some common skin concerns you see among women and men in Singapore?
Dr Tam: For younger patients, acne vulgaris remains a prevalent concern across genders. Women in their 20s and early 30s often seek enhancement of facial features, early anti-ageing treatments, or solutions for issues like melasma and dark circles. As they age into their 40s and 50s, concerns shift toward addressing sun spots, sagging skin, deep wrinkles, and overall signs of ageing.
Men, on the other hand, frequently grapple with hair loss starting in their late teens or 20s and pigmentation issues due to sun exposure. Unlike women, men tend to focus less on looking younger and more on reducing tiredness signs, such as dark circles, especially those in business or sales roles. Pigmentation, particularly, remains a significant issue, and I routinely tailor treatments accordingly.

You mentioned the Digital Peel—what exactly is it, and how does it differ from standard laser treatments?
Dr Tam: The Digital Peel utilises a dual-wavelength laser system delivering 1550nm and 1927nm wavelengths simultaneously. This combination targets different skin layers in a fractionated pattern, allowing for precise treatment of surface pigmentation and deeper skin repair. The dual wavelengths, which target water at different depths, work together at lower energies, resulting in effective outcomes with less risk of hyperpigmentation and rebound.
A key innovation is the customisable spacing between micro-thermal zones and adjustable treatment lines, enabling us to tailor each session to individual needs. This precision leads to optimal results while minimising recovery time and potential complications.
How does the recovery process of the Digital Peel compare to other laser treatments?
Dr Tam: Thanks to its fractionated approach, the Digital Peel allows for faster healing. The treatment creates controlled columns of “thermal zones,” surrounded by unaffected tissue, which accelerates skin recovery. Typically, redness subsides within a day or two, though higher energy settings may require a few extra days for complete healing. Overall, patients experience minimal downtime and often return to their daily routines quickly.

What is the typical investment for a Digital Peel, and how many sessions are usually needed? How long do the effects last?
Dr Tam: The cost per session generally ranges from $500 to $800, depending on the specific condition and treatment extent. Some patients notice improvements after just one session, while others may require three to five sessions for optimal results.
The effects, particularly on pigmentation, can last over several months, especially if patients minimise further skin insult and sun exposure. Regular treatments—akin to skin “exercise”—every month help maintain healthy, youthful skin. However, since we naturally age, ongoing skincare and sun protection are essential for lasting results.
Does the skin become more sensitive to the sun after a Digital Peel? What aftercare is recommended?
Dr Tam: Post-treatment, the skin heals rapidly but can be more sensitive to the sun for about two weeks. The most important aftercare includes diligent sun protection—using broad-spectrum sunscreens—and maintaining proper moisturization to support skin recovery and sustain the results.

What is your ideal skincare routine, and are there specific products you'd recommend after a Digital Peel?
Dr Tam: A simple, consistent routine works best: gentle cleansing, appropriate moisturization, and diligent sun protection.
At EHA Clinic, I recommend our gentle cleanser to remove dirt without stripping the skin’s natural barrier. Follow with EHA Mistique—a toner and moisturiser infused with antioxidants and hyaluronic acid—reapplying as needed.
Incorporate EHA Hydraserum, a concentrated hyaluronic acid serum, and use EHA Moisturizing Gel with SPF 15 as a day moisturiser and base for makeup. For added sun protection, EHA Sun Shield 24, which contains titanium dioxide and iron oxide, offers excellent defence against UV and blue light, which can exacerbate conditions like melasma.
At night, I suggest applying EHA Restore after Mistique and Hydraserum for deeper hydration. Depending on individual concerns, adding vitamin C serums or other targeted treatments can further enhance skin health. Post-treatment, these topicals penetrate better, enhancing the outcome of the treatment.

Before and after sessions show decreased pore size, brightening and lesser pigmentation
Our Experience with EHA’s Digital Peel
We went in hoping to fix enlarged pores and a general lack of glow, and those concerns were tackled over three sessions at EHA Clinic. Think of it like a workout plan for your skin. When it gets a gentle push to renew and reset, it starts to respond in all the right ways, and the Digital Peel works exactly along those lines.
Each visit started with a proper check-in, photos from different angles and a quick run-through of how the skin reacted after the last session. A numbing cream stayed on for around 45 minutes to an hour, then the treatment itself took just 15 to 20 minutes.
Lasers usually bring a certain fear of discomfort, but this one felt surprisingly easy. The only real sensation was a tiny spark or tug here and there, usually around facial hair, and nothing that threw the experience off.
Once the numbing eased, there was some redness and a bit of heat, but the clinic gave us an antibiotic cream that settled things quickly. The first session came with about two days of redness, then by the second and third, it calmed down within a day with only mild sensitivity.
The improvements were hard to miss. Skin looked brighter even in delicate spots like the under-eye and eyelids. Pore size started to shrink, pigmentation on the cheeks softened, and the overall texture looked smoother and fresher. After finishing the three sessions, it felt clear that a Digital Peel every three to four months can keep skin in good shape and help maintain that natural, glow-from-within finish without major downtime. We’ll be back for more.
